Treatment of Metal Wastestreams
At the end of this course, attendees will be able to:
- Know not only how but, why different metal wastes are treated in different ways
- Operate a waste treatment system with a more thorough understanding of where the waste originates and how it is treated
- Identify unit processes and understand their operation and maintenance
At the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Determine the optimum sampling locations to obtain respective wastewater samples for analysis
- Prepare stock solutions of treatment chemicals in desired concentrations for use in jar testing
- Create and enter information into a jar test form
- Complete a jar test and know how to troubleshoot a jar test
- Make comparisons between multiple jar tests in order to determine the best treatment chemical doses
- Scale up jar test results mathematically to allow full flow system operation
At the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Methodically troubleshoot a treatment system to find the cause of the problem
- Know what tests to run first in order to save time and resources
- Interpret lab data to narrow down possible causes and cures
- Differentiate between chemical, physical, mechanical and human problems
- Apply logical solutions to get back on line and prevent reoccurrence of event.
Course Description:
What: These courses are designed to train personnel in the operation and maintenance of physical / chemical wastewater treatment / pretreatment systems
Why: Well trained personnel operating pretreatment systems will MINIMIZE OPERATING COSTS and MINIMIZE THE POTENTIAL FOR EQUIPMENT AND PROCESS FAILURES. In addition, properly trained operators will contribute to a facility’s COMPLIANCE WITH FEDERAL & LOCAL REGULATIONS.
Also, through these seminars, NJ operators will earn wastewater credits toward CONTINUING EDUCATION
Who Should Attend: Operators, maintenance staff, and supervisory personnel from facilities that: Neutralize acidic and base waters; treat wastes containing metals; destroy cyanide; or treat complexed metals, or otherwise operate physical / chemical treatment systems
Instructor:
John Loughman of Noble Technologies, Inc., is a private consultant who has
worked extensively in wastewater treatment operations. He has an M.S. Degree
in Industrial Wastewater Treatment from Rutgers University.

Day Two:
Jar Testing –
8:00am to 12:15pm – 4 TCHs
